You don't get much more impressive than this. A copy of a Gibson SG Doubleneck immortalised by Jimmy Page, this one is from the higher echelons of 70s Japanese manufacturing, made as it was by the Ibanez factory and branded CSL (Charles Summerfield Ltd) for the UK market. High end it is then, and not just any old plank of cobbled together wood. Question over the pickups for the 6 string section, otherwise a beautiful original and well preserved artfact of the Japanese golden period.
While the age of Aquarius has now passed, forever immortalised in a West End musical about hippies and free love, the once great, and indeed, still great albeit not so well known Kawai guitar factory have produced this, the Aquarius guitar. It has three humbucking pickups squeezed in between the neck and the bridge, it has a Strat style trem, and it has a lovely Turquoise finish. It also has alot of balls. We really wish it was an 80s guitar in mint condition, but it is so fresh that it's quite hard to believe. Under the bed for 20 years or brand new? You decide! Great guitar? We'll decide for you: Oh yes!
Made by the Rose Morris company in the 70s Japan era under the banner of Shaftsbury, this guitar with its, shall we say, interesting styling, earned the nickname the 'Nobbley Ned', and I'm sure you can see why. Ned Callan was initially a name associated with ex-Burns makers Shergold, but was adopted by Rose Morris in the 70s to be paper clipped on to these unique guitars. With a pair of alnico humbuckers embedded into the nobblesome alder body, this guitar is certainly a bit of a tone monster, despite the rickety name tag. A rare piece at a great price.
SOLD!!! A plank of wood with magnets in it is one thing, but a plank of wood with magnets in it that was made in Japan in the 60s is quite another. This lovely old Tele copy made by the ever popular Jedson name is just one such plank. With enough faithfulness to the original to make it a viable guitar, but enough originality to afford it a personality of its own, the Jedson Tele will always be a cult classic in our eyes.
