Gibson? One of the oldest makers of fine musical instruments in the world? Producing a custom shop guitar which is so good it would prompt gentlemen of sound mind to sell their own mothers to get it? This Gibson Custom shop guitar, fashioned after the 1937 Ray Whitley Model, is based around the classic J-200 shape, but has a load of amazing stuff thrown in to make it the 'Western Classic', most significantly a nice few slabs of Brazilian rosewood adorning the back and sides, and some gold hardware. Literally one of the finest guitars we've had in the shop lately, it comes complete with the original hard case.
SOLD!!! This Martin F-7 is, it's safe to say, a pretty rare piece. Pretty and rare in equal measure. This model, an archtop made from Brazilian Rosewood, was made by Martin between 1935 and 1942, and this particular piece is therefore a first year of issue. The age of the instrument has added provenance in the shape of one or two pictures of it being played by the wife of the previous owner (the only owner we think), back in the day. The original hard case has also lasted the distance and is still with the guitar. The quintessential rosewood dreadnought becomes super-quintessential when you factor in the holy grail of tone woods for such guitars, Brazilian Rosewood. And just like an Emporer dripping in the finest robes, this beautiful Martin D28 from 1967 has certainly been turning heads since its auspicious arrival at Wunjo towers with its endowment of the afore-mentioned rainforest bounty. Not only this, very few people have ever seen such a clean example of a D28 from this period, it's virtually mint, putting it, rather ironically, in line for a collector's glass case as much as for the player looking for the ultimate tone machine. From close to the top of Martin's Vintage series tree (and what a lovely toneful tree it is), is the beautiful OM-28V. In fact, the V has a double meaning, as not only does it evoke the pre-war appointments that are featured in the guitar, it also averts your attention to the profile of the neck, that modified V profile favoured by you know who (see above), as well as a number of your everyday players. The all solid spruce/rosewood combination delivering a crisp and punchy tone, and the wide string spacing, make this the finger-pickers dream guitar. Hard case included.
Stick the word Django on any guitar in the world and you'll instantly add thousands to its value. That's obviously what Levin were thinking when they sough out the great Mr Reinhardt with their behemoth of an archtop and asked him to give it his endorsement, which he duly did. And here is said archtop, the Deluxe from 1941. An amazing guitar in great clean and original condition, and complete with the orginal hard shell case. All in all, a pretty special guitar no matter how many fingers you have.
Just when you thought you'd seen all the Martin guitars that have ever been made, a little known gem from about 10 years ago pops up to remind us why Martin are top of the tree, now, then and always. This slotted headstock 000-28US featuring wide string spacing and a vintage neck profile pumps out a sound that you'll probably be hearing beyond the grave. It plays smoothly and it'll be someone's treasure for life pretty soon, so don't miss out, they don't come along that often, and our second hand price will be tempting for more than a few. It's not often you want a bird with square shoulders, but the Gibson classic is one such exception to the rule. We have here an all original 1978 Hummingbird in excellent condition and wearing its tear very well for a middle aged guitar. Producing a lovely deep chiming tone, this is one guitar that won't leave you in much doubt as to why Gibson charge the earth for their wares, and of course, having been played in over 32 years, its getting better and better with age. A lovely piece for players or collectors, complete with hard case.
The HD28 is one of my favourite of all the Martin Guitars. It's not JUST a rosewood dreadnought you see. In fact, it's not even JUST a Martin rosewood dreadnought. It's a Standard Series Martin Rosewood dreadnought with handcrafted herringbone binding, which gives the guitar just that little bit more class, that je ne sais pas quoi, that little bit of magic that makes you feel special. The HD28 features scalloped X-bracing and ebony fingerboard and bridge. Hard case included.
SOLD!!! Yet another classic pre-war Gibson flat top on the wall at Wunjo Guitars, another million marriages plunged into jeapardy quick as a flash. Surely she'll understand this time? I mean how could any reasonable human being resist such a beautiful thing? Granted, there's been a few obvious repair jobs on the main body of this piece, and you'll see evidence of a bit of work by looking closely at the bridge and top, but otherwise, this is a lovely example of a 1936 script logo Gibson L-00 with no further issues. I'm sure she'll understand, no? Hard case included.
