Hawaiian music was big in the 30s, and indeed for quite sometime before that, but it really caught on during the time of the great depression, with it's merry melodies and rich harmonies being the perfect anti-dote to the doom and gloom brought about by the economic climate. So what a perfect time to bring it back a little bit, and what a prefect and pristine vintage guitar to expedite it with. This is the 'Hawaiian' version of the Gibson L-00, itself a popular and affordable guitar of the time, the HG-00. The main difference is obviously the raised nut and wider nut width allowing for a slide playing, and it also has heavier bracing than the L to allow bigger strings to be fitted that suit the lap style. This piece, an all original and very clean example from 1937 has indeed been set up for slide with the original raised nut, but does come complete with a standard nut also. The fretboard has a radius allowing an easy conversion to what ends up being a stunning standard flattop acoustic aswell. An extremely rare piece complete with hard case.
