It's always very exciting to see something that was made by Fender before the famous guitars came along. Fender were a new company in 1946 and in addition to the amps they were making, they hoped to capitalise on the dual fads of Hawaiian lapsteel playing and amplified stringed instruments. This is a beautiful Princeton Lapsteel from that very period, made in 1946 and still in beautiful condition almost as if it has just left the factory. Ok, well, I'm getting a bit starry eyed in my description, but the Princeton benfits from a healthy endowment of Chrome which has enabled it to retain its fresh looks. You've only got to look at the machine heads, or that lovely little single coil pickup to see that this is a true vintage classic, and swing it into action and you'll soon be floating along on a cloud with Santo and Johnny and all the rest. A lovely piece, very well preserved, complete with a case.
