Pedal Steel players are a bit like Welsh speakers, once a dying breed, still very rare, but ever burgeoning as more and more people feel the pull of the mystical art. It's one of those things that you either do really well, beautifully and with all your heart and soul, or you just wish you could. Years are needed, lots of patience and a great big dollop of dedication to the cause. If you're one of those who have departed on that journey, then maybe you're on the lookout for a decent workhorse. We've just received this through the door of our new shop at 22 Denmark Street where it now sits in pristine, virtually unplayed condition waiting for a happy new owner. This is the Fender 400 Lapsteel, an 8-stringer made from 1958 to 1976 (this example was made in 1966) featuring up to 10 pedals. It has bags and bags of tone oozing from that pickup, a big fat fender single coil that resembles an oversized jaguar pickup. I wish I could say it was easy to play, but after what I said above, it would seem like a sales pitch. This piece is all original and is complete with the original hard case.
