I've spent the good part of four years writing these captions, and I've always said that Harmony was, at one time, the biggest manufacturer of guitars in the world. This may be true, but then I read that ’[Harmony] surely produced more ukuleles than any other factory put together... by the 60s, Harmony had become so synonymous with ukulele production that they were known around Chicago as simply “The Ukulele Factory”.’ So all this stuff about the guitars, and now it seems they were better known for their ukulele range. I would have been lovely to have been around in Chicago at that boom period, but for now. we'll just have to be kept guessing by anecdotal evidence. Anyway, this mahogany bodied Harmony Soprano uke was made in around the 1950s, is is great condition and sounds and plays like a dream. Case included.
