This is a vintage 1973 Rickenbacker 4000 Bass. Few basses are designed to hack through your ear drums like a 4000, the first bass model that Rickenbacker ever produced. While the 4001 and 4003 are much better known, this mercy-free assassin of a bass is right up for a barney, and you better believe it! Built around a birdseyed Maple body with a set Maple and Walnut neck, the 4000 has a sealed Rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, just like it's grandaddy. This particular model has seen a few things, so here they are; it's had a proper re-fret, and the body has been stripped back to the wood from the original finish. Underneath the changed scratchplate there's a rout for a neck pickup, but the bridge pickup is the original, sky-skelping unit you'd expect in a bass of this nature. Wired through a master volume and tone control, this sort of instrument will grind your amp into smouldering nothingness and cut your audience's legs off, so if that's what you're after (and you should be) this is the bass for you. These are pretty thin on the ground these days, so get down and check it out! Protected by a three year warranty with our firmly routed techs, this vintage 1973 Rickenbacker 4000 is available at Wunjos with a hard case as standard.
