Maton 70th Anniv. 808 Signed

£2595.00 In Stock. Next Day Delivery, order before 3pm

The Maton 70th Anniversary 808C is a pretty special guitar in its own right. A landmark in the history of this prestigious Australian company, this model was meticulously built by hand using the best materials going, then some bloke named Thomas scrawls his name on it. Yes, that's right: one of the most terrifying players ever to walk the Earth, Tommy 'Crikey' Emmanuel, has put his name directly onto this hand-crafted classic. Emmanuel has been playing Matons since he picked up the instrument and stuck with them ever since, basing his own signature model on the 808, so this was undoubtedly a proud moment for all involved. Maton went all-out with this thing; a AAA Sitka Spruce soundboard is married to AA Victorian Blackwood back and sides, finished with a Rosewood and Rock Maple pinstripe zipper. The Blackwood neck is then topped with a Rosewood fingerboard housing 21 Dunlop 6260 frets, and the strings from a bone saddle to a bone nut into Gold Grover Rotomatic tuners. For the first time, Maton gloss-finished the soundboard but did the back and sides in satin to give greater width to the lower frequencies but with a more complex and articulate top end. The Australian masters equipped this fine piece with their own AP5 Pro, a dual band system that incorporates an undersaddle piezo and internal body mic fed into a Maton-designed preamp to make the absolute most of the sound. It's a beast, and signed by a beast who trusts it more than any other maker! Now protected by a three year warranty with our bonza, smashing techs, this 2014 Maton 70th Anniversary 808C signed by Tommy Emmanuel is available at Wunjos with The Maton Case as standard.
