Ibanez AKJV90D

£625.00 Available from Supplier Delivery 3 to 5 days

If you think ‘pointy’ when you hear that name, the Ibanez AKJV90D should remind you that the Japanese giant hasn’t just spent its existence providing the likes of Paul Gilbert and John Petrucci with instruments - one of their longest-running endorsees is the perma-smooth George Benson, a guitarist so silky you can drink his music instead of listening to it. Their Artcore series has produced some fabulous guitars, and the AKJV90D is one of them. Built around a Spruce top with Flamed Maple back and sides, this hollowbody masterpiece is fitted with Ibanez’s own Expressionist Vintage 3-piece Mahogany/Maple set neck, topped with a 12” radius bound Rosewood fretboard, inlaid with Acrylic blocks. Home to 20 Medium frets, it starts with a gloriously broad headstock and ends in a pleasingly understated ART-1 bridge and VT06 tailpiece. Strung with a set of flatwounds from the factory and therefore set up for ‘very jazz’, Ibanez have elected to furnish the AKJV90D with a pair of Alnico Super 58 humbuckers, wired through independent Volume and Tone knobs and a 3-way toggle. Even that hardware is rendered in Antique Gold, as Ibanez seemingly try to deliver to most suave jazzbox they possibly can. If you’re looking for a seriously jazz-focused hollowbody to add to your collection, or a totally reliable instrument for constant gigging, you’d be hard-pressed to top this, so shimmy over to Wunjo Electric and put your hands
