Gibson Dove 1973

For a bird known as a symbol of peace, the guitar introduced by Gibson in the early sixties as a sister to the Hummingbird was in fact louder than its predecessor. A great big loud booming dreadnought in fact, with maple back and sides that also made it brighter, an elaborate bridge, and of course the very striking Dove scratch plate, this was a guitar that could be described as a bit of a show off. The Dove doesn’t even have an olive branch in its beak! Despite its slight failure to manage our expectations, the Dove has earned its place in Gibson’s acoustic guitar canon as just as much of a legend as the Hummingbird. Here we have a beautiful example from the early seventies that comes to us in excellent condition and fully original apart from the tuners that have been replaced. The images we have included show the wear on the side of the guitar, demonstrating that the guitar has indeed had a life and been played, lending it a tone and a character that will never be replicated by a modern reproduction. A stunning piece with rich tone and amazing projection. Hard case included.
