Gretsch Astro Jet 1965

The short-lived Astro Jet was Gretsch's attempt at making a 'guitar of the future' in the 60s. Designed by Jimmie Webster, a guitarist also pushing way ahead of his time.

From a design standpoint, the Astro-Jet was a kind of Corvette on Acid - reminiscent of a Gibson SG in design, with an offset sharp cutaway solid body and two Super'Tron pickups. A chunky Solid mahongany boy and Ebony Fretboard, and a Burns vibrato.

As you might expect from a guitar designed by a pro guitarist, the Astrojet has pretty interesting controls.  The knobs are a master volume and two tone controls.  The switches include a threeway select, a threeway tone / capacitor selector, and a kill switch.

This Guitar is possibly one of the most ''Far Out'' Gretsch's of its period.
