Gretsch Hawaiian (1930s)

In Stock. Next Day Delivery order before 3pm

Costing a mere $40 in 1930, this vintage 1930 Gretsch Hawaiian is something of a historical landmark. The ‘30’s in America marked a period of intense interest in Hawaii as the place for tourism and music, and it’s as a result of this that the island paradise features so heavily in popular culture during this period. Gretsch seemed to agree, and built this amazingly round-bodied acoustic to show their excitement. Crafted around an Adirondack Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, the Hawaiian has a Mahogany neck joining the body at the 12th Fret. The splendidly-bound fingerboard is furnished with 4 starry inlays, and at the headstock end you’ll find two strips of open-gear tuners and one of the most simultaneously understated and outlandish headstocks ever. Inlaid with mother of pearl and covered in pearloid, the Hawaiian has a truly handmade feel to it, and possesses a charm that’s truly all its own. There’s so many smashing touches - the straight pickguard partly covering the soundhole, the small Rosewood bridge with a horizontal nut, the defined V point on the back of the neck - you’ll never see another one like this, so if you don’t get down to the shop and get both hands on this thing, you are loopy! Protected by a three year warranty with our aloha-ing techs, this vintage 1930’s Gretsch Hawaiian is available at Wunjos with its original case as standard.
