Selmer Pro-Electric Lapsteel (1950s)

£695.00 In Stock. Next Day Delivery order before 3pm

Hailing from a time when Hawaii was very much the word on everyone’s lips, this vintage 1950’s Selmer Pro-Electric is an instrument from a truly different era in guitar making. Tracking down the original catalogue for this lap steel can’t help remind one of just how much stuff Selmer made, from their jazz guitars to amps and saxophones, and they made a healthy number of lap steels, of which this fabulous device is a grand example. Buit around a select Mahogany body, the Pro-Electric is finished in ‘golden sunburst tones’ with inlaid frets and plated metal parts, all of which could have been yours for 21 guineas in 1960. The pickup has individually adjustable pole-pieces, which was quite the thing back then, and the whole unit is controlled by a master Volume and Tone. You get a metal nut as well, which keeps things ringing out beautifully as you rattle away. It’s even got the original ‘amplifier lead and plug’ so you can, you know, use it. All joking aside, these steels provide a truly magnificent sound, and if you’re leaping up and down at the idea of getting your hands on one, move swiftly! Protected by a three-year warranty with our seated techs, this vintage 1950’s Selmer Pro-Electric Lap Steel is available at Wunjos with a hard case as standard.
