Supro Sahara (1962)

£1495.00
In Stock. Next Day Delivery order before 3pm

Sitting down? Good. This breathtaking item is the Supro Sahara, a wide-body reproduction of the original instrument made by Supro in the early 1960’s. Supro themselves state that on their website, but what they can’t tell you is how truly smashing this thing is in person. Built around a chambered body and Supro’s new Acousti-glass top, this guitar looks for all the world like something from a truly different time, but you don’t know just how lairy this thing can be. That single coil Vista-tone pickup mounted in the bridge position is hairier than your whole band, and although Buddy Holly-style C-strums are quite feasible here, the real order of the day is demented fuzz processing to an almost hilarious extent. If you thought that a single pickup wouldn’t be enough choice, you’d be quite wrong, as the fabulously retro knobs house a master Tone and Volume control that let you push out warm, considered tones with ease. The ‘50s wiring is designed to let you make full use of the tone pots, so there’s so much more to it than you can picture, including the ability to roll off the volume for a sparkling clean tone. Aided and abetted by the Mahogany back, the Mahogany neck is topped with a Rosewood fingerboard and culminates in a Zero-fret and outsized headstock and huge tuners. Add to that a German carve on the top and back and you’ve got an instrument that’ll do a lot more than twang. Extra bonus good, and it’s even got a Rosewood bridge and Dobro tailpiece! Protected by a three-year warranty with our nomadic techs, the Supro Sahara is available at Wunjos with a hard case as standard.
