Yamaha SJ500 (1978)

£695.00

Built in this model's first month of production, this 1978 Yamaha SJ-500 is one of The Great Builder's Tele-style instruments. Named in the classic Japanese electric style, the SJ-500 is also known as the Super Jam 500, joining such luminaries as the Yamaha Studio Lord and Tokai Springy Sound. A pretty rare beast to say the least, this hammering heartbreaker was only built between 1978 and 1983 as part of the Super Jam series, and is as road-tough as any other Yammie built in the 70's. Crafted around a Maple/Alder body, the Super Jam has a Han GIII humbucker in the neck and a JI single coil in the bridge, drawing its nature from the Tele Custom. Wired to a three way toggle with a master volume and tone, this hard-tailed hero has a neat forearm contour like a Strat so you can get the knee down good and proper. The Maple neck and fingerboard are topped by a distinctly 70's Yamaha headstock with two string trees, and the neck is bolted on as securely as you can imagine. Yamaha have built everything from roads to spacecraft with the same level of reliability, and their 70's models are tougher than you are so this rare champ will get you where you need to go, no questions asked! Now protected by a 3 year warranty with our ancient geijin techs, this 1978 Yamaha SJ-500 is available at Wunjos with a gig bag as standard.
