We do our best to give the slidey-players among you plenty to shout about, so here's a vintage 1957 Fender Deluxe Lap Steel. Although Fender are known for other stuff they did make a number of lap steels, some of which survive to this day. Built at the Fullerton plant in California, this handsome old sort would most likely have been a shade of white at one time, but now finds itself yellowed to that magic duck's bill colour over many, many years. This impossible thing is all original, complete with a spiffy single coil wired through master Volume and Tone controls. Anchored in the swept bridge plate, the strings pass over a sturdy bar on their way to the recessed headstock with appropriately antiqued vertical tuners, and the block-inlaid board looks the proper ticket. Luckily for us, we've got all the original retractable legs intact, and although there's a couple of dinky nicks in the paint, it's in pretty banging condition for a guitar that's nearly eligible for a bus pass. If you want that old tone, get an instrument from back then! Protected by a three year warranty with our ancient techs, this 1956 Fender Deluxe Lap Steel is available at Wunjos with a hard case as standard.
