We do like to get our hands on the rare stuff, and this Trace Elliot T Bass V is something you just don’t see any more. Most of you reading this will be familiar with Trace from the brutalist carpet-covered amp heads they made in the ‘90s, but these basses are lesser-heralded gems from that period, and make for sensational playing. Made in England for Trace by Status, the T-Bass has a pretty serious pedigree, and used a few exciting secrets to make it quite the instrument. Built around a natural-finish Alder body, the T-Bass has a Maple neck topped with a Rosewood fingerboard, culminating in that individual, raked-back headstock. Status went the extra distance when it came to the electronics too - in addition to the two single coils, the T-Bass has active circuitry with a full 3-band EQ, a blend knob and an active/passive switch to give you maximum control. Where’s the extra bonus mile you ask? Why, it’s under the pickguard of course. Status mounted an extra coil under there to ensure no hum when you’re using the other two pickups. The placement stops the coil interfering with the movement of the strings, resulting in a bass that does exactly what you want it to do, when you want it to do it. A bit of an under-appreciated gem, grab this one before it strolls off into the sunset! Protected by a three-year warranty with our raked-back technicians, this Trace Elliot T-Bass V is available at Wunjos with a gig bag as standard.
