Hofner Violin Bass 500/1 (1966)

First debuted in 1955, this vintage 1966 Hofner Violin Bass is a true legend in the game. The sort of thing that keeps the chat in the bass shop going for days, these are handsome, superbly functional basses for the plum-tone minded, with all the right bits for getting your Macca-tones. So, you get a bound Rosewood fingerboard with a zero fret and dot inlays, open-gear tuners on the iconic headstock and a lovely heel on the set neck. Hofner increased the size of the control plate in 1965, and this boss chap has just such a plate. The staple-top humbuckers are wired through two independent Volume knobs and the famous Tone switches that give you series power for serious potency - if you’ve ever had the chance to hear one of these played in series with a pick, you won’t soon forget it. A pearloid scratchplate hovers above the treble side of the hollow body, and the traditional wooden bridge remains very much intact. If you’re into the idea of a Beatley bass, you’d be very hard pressed to beat a Violin number like this from the ‘60s, so stop reading this blurb and come together at the shop! This bass has had a neck reset and a possible overspray on the back of the neck. Protected by a three year warranty with our hot techs who passed the audition, this 1966 Hofner Violin Bass is available at Wunjos with a hard case as standard.
