It turns out, old guitars do sound better!
This fantastic 1950s Martin 000-28 has just arrived to grace our vintage acoustic selection. From a particularly revered point in Martin's post-war production, this 000-28 sits at the head of the table. A simple design focused on premium wood pairings and elegant construction that has not only stood the test of time, but benefitted from it.
The Auditorium sized body composition has long been a fan favourite of Martin's, the pronounced waist but ample 15" lower bout width strikes a happy balance between player comfort and space for volume and low end to generate inside the guitar. Composed of a solid Spruce sound board with a tighter non-scalloped 'X' brace that helps keep the sound focused and articulate, and the highly praised, beautifully figured two-piece Brazillian Rosewood back and sides to take care of the low-mid resonance, joined with a flourish by the 50s style 'chain link' back strip. As the wood has continued to dry throughout its life it's become more open in comparison to it's modern contemporaries, making for a balanced and robust tonality that punches well beyond its size.
It's got tons of character and its definitely been played (as it should!) over its years, there's a crack down the centre beneath the bridge, a small crack above and the bridge has been reglued historically. Aside from that it's in original condition and undoubtedly one of the best sounding acoustic guitars we've had through the doors here at Wunjo Guitars.
It comes complete with its original hard case and our two year set up and servicing warranty included in the price.
