S/H 1965 Fender Jazzmaster, Three Tone Sunburst

What a looker! 

a phenomenal, pre-CBS Jazzmaster in a beautifully vivid Three Tone Sunburst. Leo Fender being the great innovator he was, made an effort to redefine convention and break a new market of Jazz focused guitars to rival the more traditional archtops of the era, thus in 1958 the Jazzmaster was launched! 

Housing a pair of specifically voiced single coil pickups that delivered a richer low end frequency response to compliment the glassy treble, delivering articulation and bite from the bridge pickup, and a much fuller, warmer range from the neck position but also armed with a secret weapon; the rhythm circuit! To emulate the acoustic, mid-range resonance of the JMs primary competition, Fender incorporated a circuit that used a 50k roller tone pot (as opposed to the 1meg on the lead circuit) to reduce high end presence from the neck pickup, creating two entirely different tones from the same source at the flick of a switch. 

Whilst unfortunately the Jazzmaster never truly found its footing with the Jazz crowd, it's since become a staple in the genres that followed, from Surf to Punk, Grunge, Indie  and will likely dominate the landscape far into the future. 

This particular example is in very good condition for its age, whilst its been played with some dings and signs of patina and play wear across the body, the original finish has maintained its brilliance throughout its 60 years of life. The pre-CBS Nitrate guard has some signs of shrinkage, the tremolo arm is a replacement and it appears to have had a professional refret, but other wise it is all original and correct.
