From the golden era of solid body guitar manufacture across the board, Legacy brands were competing in the race to deliver the premium players instrument and in doing so, each company managed to carve out their own identity and fan club. 

The Gretsch Duo Jet is a perfect example of that, the single cut body made with Chambered mahogany allowed air to move more freely between the top and back resulting in a lively harmonic response and articulate tone especially when paired the mid-range rich Filter'tron humbuckers.  A full bodied sound with total control via the tone-switch and pot, with the option of added expression from the Bigsby, the Duo Jet was really a pioneer of its time and not much has been improved on it since!
